The purpose of this series is to provide the new linux user with a step by step tutorial for installing the Ubuntu desktop on their computer. This series could be easily worked through in a weekend.
There are three parts to this series.
Part 1
How to get the Ubuntu CD, either by mail or from the Internet.
Part 2
Setting up your computer to boot from the Ubuntu CD and running the Live CD.
Part 3
Installing the Ubuntu system to your hard drive.

in spots, but that’s better than a sea of acronyms. The instructions are for the Debian flavor of Linux, which is the most closely related to Ubuntu. Well worth a visit.
