Under ConstructionAs you can tell by the top of the website, my web hosting has been provided free of charge for the past while by AlwaysWebHosting. They have been extremely generous and I wanted to thank them very much for all of the help, support, web space, etc. that they have provided for me over the past while. If you are looking for a great web host, definitely give these guys a try.

Unfortunately, they can no longer provide me with web hosting and I am now on the hunt for a new host. This biggest issue that I am running into is the fast that shared hosting does not seem to be enough for my site. I use a lot of processor and I get a lot of traffic.

So, this is what I am now working on:

  1. A new web host so that I can move Daily Cup of Tech
  2. Ways that I can optimize my website to reduce CPU
  3. Upgrading to the latest version of WordPress
  4. Designing a new theme so that the website comes up quicker

Any suggestions/comments/ideas on any of these would be greatly appreciated!

Once again, thanks to AlwaysWebHosting for all the past support!

AlwaysWebHosting, my new web host, was put to the test yesterday. My USB PC Repair Kit was featured by Yahoo Tech’s Christopher Null in 10 Free, Essential Computer Fix-It Tools article back in April. But, for some reason, the article gained a lot of interest yesterday and my traffic suddenly soared!

In the past, this is where my web host generally dropped the ball. By not AlwaysWebHosting! They kept everything running smooth as silk. No down time. No interruptions. No annoyed readers. Thanks, AlwaysWebHosting!

I also want to thank a couple of people who have generously donated to DCoT over the past couple of weeks. Thanks to:

  • Cecile M.
  • Kyle C.

I really appreciate your donations and it will be going to good use (the continued running of this blog).

I would also like to encourage everyone to continue donating to DCoT through the Tip Jar. It is only through these donations and the money made from clicks on the advertising that I can keep this website going.

With just a few hours left to get in on the BlackBerry contest, now is your chance! A quick donation secures your opportunity to win a BlackBerry! I will be making the draw and announcing the winner of the BlackBerry later in July.

I would like to thank everyone who has donated this week! It never ceases to amaze me how generous the DCoT faithful are. I am truly humbled. A big thanks to:

  • Chris W.
  • Thomas C.
  • John W.
  • James W.
  • Pamela L.
  • Karen B.
  • Michael C.
  • Dave F.
  • Mark D.

I’ve added you all in for the draw for the BlackBerry. Good Luck!

I also want to thank AlwaysWebHosting for continuing to provide excellent hosting for Daily Cup of Tech. I was expecting to get service a bit better than my previous web host but not this good! I am truly impressed!

This is the last week that you will be able to get your name in for the BlackBerry draw! We had two more people get their names in for the BlackBerry this week. A special thanks to:

  • Nicholas B.
  • Michael B.

If you want to have your name in for the BlackBerry, simply make a donation to Daily Cup of Tech via the Tip Jar and you will receive one entry for every dollar that you donate.

You have until June 30th, 2007 at midnight central time to make a donation. The winner will be announced on July 9th.

I also want to thank AlwaysWebHosting for their continued support by providing me with hosting for Daily Cup of Tech. I have received a significant increase in speed and reliability for the website since I moved DCoT over. If you are looking for web hosting, definitely check out AlwaysWebHosting. (Make sure you go to AlwaysWebHosting through DCoT so that you are eligible for a discount on your hosting.)

Thanks again for your continued support to Daily Cup of Tech.  I would not be able to do this without your support and effort.

Once again, Daily Cup of Tech readers has stepped up to the plate and helped keep this blog rolling. Thanks for all of the continued support that you are showering upon DCoT in several different ways.

There are three special groups that I want to highlight this week.

Hosters

We hosting the way it should be!The first is AlwaysWebHosting. I had a couple of requests this week to make my running of DCoT easier. I barely had time to check my e-mail after submitting the requests via their web support page and they had it complete!

I have been totally impressed by AlwaysWebHosting! I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first decided to move to their service but it appears that my concerns were unfounded. The only real problem that I am having is that there are about 20 different things listed in their Fantastico instant install system that I would love to implement on DCoT but I’m not sure that I would be able to maintain! Just check out the Fantastico demo and you will see what I mean!

As always, I suggest that you check them out if you are looking for hosting. Also, make sure that you go to AlwaysWebHosting from DCoT to get the Daily Cup of Tech special discount rate!

Thanks again, AlwaysWebHosting!

Donators

Secondly, I want to say “THANKS!” to everyone who donated to Daily Cup of Tech this week. Here are the latest people to get their name in for the BlackBerry draw at the end of the month:

Good luck in the BlackBerry draw and thanks for being willing to give to DCoT when, really, you did not have to! Extra karma points for you guys!

Writers

I also want to thank all of you who take an active part in making Daily Cup of Tech what it is.

My contributing writers Adam Bonner, Decoy Flyer, Stuart Burt, Larry Keyes, Rob Dunn, and Raymond Hicks for helping to take the load off during heavy times. Each one is responsible for some really great writing!

Other bloggers for all of the posts and links that you make about and to Daily Cup of Tech. These do not go unnoticed and they help to spread the word about what DCoT is doing.

To everyone who takes the time out of their busy day to comment on the posts you read in Daily Cup of Tech. I like to think that we are building a community of people at DCoT and it is through interaction with others, not just me, that we can accomplish this. Technology is a very small part of being a good technical person. The most important aspect is relationship.
