What Book Should I Write?
I am in the process of finishing up my first book and I am looking at self publishing the book both as an inexpensive paperback and as an ebook. I also have some other book ides in the works but I thought I’d ask you, my audience, some questions to lead me in the right direction. So, here goes:
- What topic or topics would you like to see me write about?
- Home much would you be willing to pay for a paperback book? An ebook?
- If I offered an affiliate option and gave you 50% of the profit from the book, would you sign up as an affiliate?
- Any suggestions, tips, or tricks that would make my self-publishing experience easier?
I really look forward to your feedback in the comments section!

March 11th, 2009 at 3:50 pmProps to you Tim…where do you find the time?
1. I would say something involving Internet technology…focusing especially on Linux & social networking
2. Paperback - $12.99 | Ebook - $1.99
3. I would absolutely be willing to participate in an affiliation program…as long as your book was good that is
4. Set up Google Alerts for “self publication” and other similar terms so you can more thoroughly scan the Internet for good information. Also, seek out someone who had already published several of their own books & develop a symbiotic relationship with them.

March 11th, 2009 at 7:42 pmMatt, you’re being a bit cheap with the eBook, there.
I’m usually comfortable going up to about $5-6 for eBooks, especially if they’ve been proven of value to me (something I enjoyed before or that contains a lot of knowledge).
I’ve got quite an eBook collection and have no trouble paying for them if they’re worthy, but I object to paying the same price as for paper as it didn’ cost them to pulp it out and I can’t hand it off to m’spouse to read when I’m done (not if I want to keep my iPT to myself!).
Can’t offer a topic — I come to you looking for insights on tech, wouldn’t presume. However, I suggest you check out Ed Howdershelt’s website. He publishes his work via eBooks only and has a lot of information on ePublishing:
