Thanks, And Farewell, AlwaysWebHosting
As you can tell by the top of the website, my web hosting has been provided free of charge for the past while by AlwaysWebHosting. They have been extremely generous and I wanted to thank them very much for all of the help, support, web space, etc. that they have provided for me over the past while. If you are looking for a great web host, definitely give these guys a try.
Unfortunately, they can no longer provide me with web hosting and I am now on the hunt for a new host. This biggest issue that I am running into is the fast that shared hosting does not seem to be enough for my site. I use a lot of processor and I get a lot of traffic.
So, this is what I am now working on:
- A new web host so that I can move Daily Cup of Tech
- Ways that I can optimize my website to reduce CPU
- Upgrading to the latest version of WordPress
- Designing a new theme so that the website comes up quicker
Any suggestions/comments/ideas on any of these would be greatly appreciated!
Once again, thanks to AlwaysWebHosting for all the past support!
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

July 7th, 2008 at 3:43 pmOne suggestion I have is to have DCoT’s homepage have only 3 articles. Users who want to view more simply click next to go the next page to view the normal number of articles. This way every video and picture doesn’t have to load at once. Hope this helps. I love DCoT and I hope you can find a great host.

July 7th, 2008 at 4:32 pm1. DreamHost
2. DreamHost used to, but no longer, causes a stir for user CPU load. If your load is too high, they will contact you and try to work with you to get it fixed. -

July 23rd, 2008 at 7:35 pmFewer articles on the main page helps a lot. Also make sure to use wp-super-cache. If you have that installed your site will be awesome. It works wonders by caching pages so static html files are served, but they update any time anybody comments, you make a new post, etc.
I’ve used Surpass Hosting for years. I have a dedicated server with them now. On any host you may be suspended if your site makes the server slow for other users. Any good host will suspend some users rather than letting the whole server slow down.
Depending no how big your site is (and how much money you take in from it) you may even want to go for a dedicated server.
