September 12th, 2007 at 11:12 pmIf all the options and “bells and whistles” make for bad presentations (such as the flyins and number of fonts tec), why does Microsoft even put them into Powerpoint (the program)? Do they want people to make bad presentations? Do they want people to make fools of themselves? Do they want Powerpoint presentations, i.e. their own product, to look bad? I don’t get it!
No wait, I do! They want people to notice their product, not the person doing the presentation, or even the subject matter. THAT’s why Steve Ballmer has to run around the stage like a rhino in heat, he’s fighting the Powerpoint!

The reporter compares the incident to The Andromeda Strain, but it looks more like The Colour Out of Space to me.Daily Cup of Tech: Yes, bad PowerPoint presentations are so ubiquitous that a stand-up comic can build a non-tech-audience-ready routine out of one.
