August 9th, 2007 at 12:53 pmNote: I’m not a graphic designer by any means, but here is what I think of some entries so far from a visitor’s point of view.
Entry 10 looks good, but I’m not liking the font.
Entry 8 is ok, but it’s a little plain, maybe some type of background would help it.
Entry 5 is pretty good, but dark and lacks graphics. I like the font though, anybody know what font it is?
Entry 4 is on the right track also, but it’s really big and position of the lettering needs adjusting.

I love entry 5 you should totally have some shirts printed. I would actually buy one and wear it… (I read/check your site at least weekly and find lots of the posts/stories interesting and informative.)
#8 is good too but I don’t know about wearing that one. -

#5 look too military to me. -

August 10th, 2007 at 5:47 amI quite like #4, #8, & #10….although the angled text on #10 bothers me a bit, wish it were level…. Maybe I’m just OCD though.
Nice work! Hope to add something myself before decision time..! -

August 10th, 2007 at 8:48 am9 is one of the first really good ideas I’ve seen so far. Could use a little polishing, but it’s a great start.

August 10th, 2007 at 9:48 am8 is definitely my favorite. To the point, clear, and a great design. It encompases the coffee aspect and technological aspects the best. That would look great on a shirt, especially in the upper corner or on the back.

All in All though, #12 still has these beat

August 10th, 2007 at 6:00 pm#8 is a great design. It represents “tech” and “daily cup” beautifully, is simple and can be used in a variety of applications. Bonus with the two versions too! Nice work.
My second favorite…very clever use of the coffee cup … is #9. The only reason this doesn’t work for me is the use of dcot only and not the actual site name…If I never visited the site I wouldn’t know what it meant so it doesn’t communicate anything to me. Still nice design…
The others are all great just don’t think they work as “logos” — might make great t-shirts tho!

I’m not sure what you mean by “polish”. If you are referring to the compression artifacts, those are not from me. Tim must have resized it with the wordpress image tool or something. The one I sent him was clean, and much smaller.
I noticed this immediately, but did not want to sound like a cry baby. Perhaps I have just done that! Oh well, looks like I won’t win anyway.

Just my opinion, but I think you could play around with the letter spacing (especially between the o and t) and maybe some color changes to give it more punch. I also think the long dash under the main logo looks a little out of place. Anyway, regardless of my nitpicking, you still got my vote
