The Tour Is Leaving Immediately
I have recently received a number of e-mails about how a blog is really good at educating users when they are following on a regular basis. But, for users who are new to a blog that has been running for a while, there is often a lot of interesting stuff that they will never actually see because for them to go back and find different topics of interest can be a difficult task.
So, I gave the issue some thought and I have decided to implement DCoT Tours. What is DCoT Tours? Essentially, it is a guided walk through Daily Cup of Tech based on a specific theme. I am working on a number of different tours right now but rather than wait until they are all done, I thought that I would release them as I completed them.
The first tour is a Humour tour. It takes you through ten of the funniest posts that have appeared on Daily Cup of Tech. As an added bonus, when you take a tour, you are also given some new information and links which do not appear in the original post.
I am planning a number of other tours over the next while. Here are some of my tour ideas:
- USB Drive Tour
- Security Tour
- Server Failure Tour
- Linux Tour
- AutoIt Tour
- Gumstix Tour
- Blogs Tour
- DIY Tour
- HowTo Tour
- FreeNAS Tour
- Tech Tools Tour
I am also looking for other ideas for different tours. Feel free to submit your ideas in the comments!
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

August 3rd, 2007 at 7:57 amI’ll out in a vote for the USB tour and the Autoit Tour.
I was explaining to a couple of friends about the USB menu system and how they could use the same idea for an art project they have in mind.
They went to the site but got a tad lost trying to follow along. It just occured to me that they might be fibbing and just want me to put my hand up to do the work for them… hmmm.
The tours are a great idea.

Awesome idea. Adding it to the list.
@Faust-C
Not really sure just yet. I’m still in the brainstorming phase.
@thatch
It is stories like these that prompted me to create the tours.
@Kyle
D’oh! How could I have missed that one! Adding it to the tour!

August 12th, 2009 at 1:31 amThank you for helping me with setting up a NAS with your tour; it was very educational. I would like to suggest that you put the sequential number to the tour (e.g. 1/5, 2/5, 3/5…etc) so that we could know where to go next.
Thank you again.
