Schedule Running Apatar Projects
As I have mentioned previously, Apatar is an excellent tool for filtering or modifying data in preparation for reports or for discovering trends in your data. Unfortunately, data is not static and changes regularly. This means that even once you get that really awesome Apatar DataMap completed, you need to run that on a regular basis.
I have to admit that it is a complete pain to not only remember to run the DataMap but to actually do the same repetitive task over and over again, especially on a computer since repetitive tasks are what they do best.
Fortunately, Apatar comes with a scheduling system that allows you to automatically run your DataMaps on a preset schedule so that you do not have to worry about it. It really comes in handy if you want to regularly update a website or run frequent batch reports.
Start the Scheduler
The easiest way to start the scheduler is to go to the File menu in the Apatar interface and then click on Scheduling. You should see the Apatar Scheduling icon (
) in the system tray.
Viewing Scheduled Events
You can check to see what events you have presently scheduled by right clicking on the
icon and then clicking on Property. You will now be presented with the Apatar scheduling window.

This window is the primary interface that you use to manage your Apatar DataMap runs.
Add A Scheduled Run
To add a scheduled run, simply click on the New button. This will present you with the New or Edit Task window:

This window is pretty self-explanatory but the few things to make sure you fill out include:
- Name -make this a descriptive name that you will easily remember
- Occurs - this is the base frequency that you want your DataMap to run. Make sure you also fill out any of the Occurs options which change depending on which version of Occurs you select (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly)
- Project - this is the project that you created with Apatar.
Once you have filled in everything properly, simply click OK. Your new scheduled DataMap run is ready to go.
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

To avoid re-import of data, Apatar can work in the Update regime. It is possible to switch output connectors to this mode and update only the changed records.
If you are interested in learning more, I can provide you with the guides related to these actions.
