A commenter thinks that I have beat the dead server lessons topic to death and feels that I should move on to something else. I still have at least 15 posts revolving around that fateful week with, what I think, is some pretty useful information.
But, I’m going to leave it to you, the DCoT readers.
Just a side note. The purpose of these posts is not to bring attention to the trials that I went through. Rather, it is to provide information that will help others when they find themselves in a similar situation.
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

July 6th, 2007 at 2:11 pmMaybe put the dead server stuff on a sub page that the people who don’t maintain servers can avoid. I personally find this series very useful

July 6th, 2007 at 2:21 pmNo worries, you can keep them coming.
They are very interesting, and will make a fine series to go along your USB series. -

July 6th, 2007 at 3:57 pmIt’s your blog dude.
If you feel there are useful lessons for us admins, then by all means lets us have it. If you feel like compromising, you might post one per week for 15 weeks (How bout Murphy’s Mondays). I wouldn’t change your editorial mind unless you received enough whines to justify it.
I also enjoy lessons in “Admin Theory” and especially when theory meets reality and you get to feel the exact points where, your conceptions of what it is to be an admin, and what the world thinks an admin should be, differ.
I vote, keep them coming. Sprinkle in some other tidbits if you think you are wearing us out.

July 6th, 2007 at 4:19 pmOh I know! How about remembering that while your readers to make you popular, it is entirely up to you what you post on your own site.
With a name like “Daily cup of tech” I expect series like this and have actually learned a bit from them.

July 6th, 2007 at 4:49 pmI’m not saying they’re not informative. I’m just saying… break it up a little. You used to have so many other topics to read about.
I think the sub page is a good idea.

July 6th, 2007 at 4:58 pmHow about one a week? That will alow you to use the material you already have, be educational for those who could use the info and allow for other topics for those who wouldn’t use it.

July 6th, 2007 at 5:21 pmSimply put: These are great.
These notes/paragraphs are filled with great info to either learn from, or brush up on for future server meltdowns.
Keep them coming!

July 6th, 2007 at 6:11 pmPlease keep them coming! You can always think you have a good disaster recovery plan for your servers - but you never know! Having this information has already helped us fix one or two small problems with our recovery plan - so please, it does help - so keep them coming!

It’s not as though it’s off topic, or your blog’s called “Daily Commentary on Triscuts.”

July 6th, 2007 at 9:57 pmI am enjoying the series. It is relevant to the work experience I am doing this year. Making sure I ask the right questions and learn as much as I can whilst I am there.
Keep up the posts

July 7th, 2007 at 8:17 amThis current series is a great reminder to admins of all experience levels. It is forcing me to go back through some of my current DR procedures. I have been reading the blog for a long time. Keep up the great work.

July 8th, 2007 at 12:07 amI say keep them coming.
It is your blog, we’re just here for the ride. As long as it is something I find interesting, I’ll read it. If not, I’ll skip it and read the next post. It’s that simple.
Although in the vein of ‘constructive criticism’, I would say that some of the posts so for could have been combined, or perhaps more brief.

July 8th, 2007 at 11:38 pmThey do seem to be coming thick and fast to the exclusion of other content. It’s hard to cover USB splash screens and the like and then dive into a loooong series on server recovery without spreading things a bit thinly with the readership.
They were bugging me a bit, but I’m happy to skim over them.
