A USB drive and a bit of daring is all it takes for thieves to steal all types of software and files.
Check out all of the Security Video.

Then walk out undetected. Looks like all sales staffs got to be more vigilant from now on! Source: http://www.dailycupoftech.com/2007/06/15/security-video-podslurping/

June 16th, 2007 at 7:08 amThere is no way this can be true : such a hot babe wouldn’t have went around unnoticed and not harrassed by at least a couple of sales persons looking for a great (legitimate) reason to start chatting with her.
More seriously now, I don’t know how it is for Macs (because “Hello, I’m a PC…” as they say), but on Windows, stealing software in an installed form isn’t as easy as it sounds because of all the dependencies files installed everywhere, so it can actually be a quite tedious and time-consuming process that can hardly be done on a store…
But again, in MACs, maybe all you need is to copy the program’s main directory and you’re good to go…
But with all the P2P technology available, it is more than most people would go the hassle thru to get some software they may get easier without risking to get caught by a camera or the security staff and get turned to cops more or less quickly. That said, I’ve already red stories like this with people stealing data from PCs on shops… valuable data that can be quite easily be stolen is serial numbers, like for example Windows ones (some keys only work for certain OEM but others don’t…), which is a quite expensive software…
The pirate is very happy : no need for cracks getting blocked by MS every month, Activation & WGA workarounds, but hopefully nobody ever buys the PC with this license key that may get blacklisted (especially if it gets thrown on P2P networks…), otherwise he may have an hard-time with activation and may be mistaken for a pirate.JC
