Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn Released
Just a quick post to tell everyone that Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn has officially been released today. If you are trying to get the ISO files for downloading, you may have some difficulty because a lot of the servers are overloaded today. I am finding that the bittorrent route is probably the best way to go. So, to help spread this around the globe, I am posting all of the latest Ubuntu torrent files and the MD5 checksums for the files.
If you do not have a bittorrent client, I usually use μTorrent and if you are looking for an MD5 checksum tool, I like MD5 Summer.
Here are the files:
- MD5SUMS
- ubuntu-7.04-alternate-amd64.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-server-amd64.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-server-i386.iso.torrent
- ubuntu-7.04-server-sparc.iso.torrent
Have fun!
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

April 19th, 2007 at 8:25 pmThe Alternate CDs are used for upgrades and/or for text-based installations (instead of a GUI for installation). The alternate CDs are excellent for machines with less than 256MB of RAM.
Today there were so many people trying to do a network upgrade (using the Update manager in Ubuntu to go from 6.10 to 7.04) that the servers were clogged and eventually throttled. I ended up getting frustrated and downloaded the alternate CD from Ga. Tech. I used that to upgrade from 6.10 to 7.04.
If you are doing a fresh install or just want to overwrite the installation you have on your machine, use the Desktop CD and not the alternate.
