I Blog. Therefore, I Am.I was recently challenged by Matthew Jabs over at eJabs to post about why I blog. I thought that this would be a very interesting challenge so here it goes!

1. I Was Encouraged

The whole blogging thing started for me about a year ago when a friend and fellow IT person said, “So when are you going to be starting a blog?” I thought that it was a joke at first. But he said that he always enjoys getting together with me because I he wants to know what new and interesting technology things I have found since our last get together and what new and whacky ideas I have. He figured that if he was interested in my ideas, others may be interested.

2. A Record of My Knowledge

Let’s be honest. No IT person likes documentation and I am no different. But, if you do a little bit each day, then it is amazing what you can accomplish over time. Daily Cup of Tech is essentially just that. My efforts to record as much as I can about computers and technology.

3. Blogging Challenges Me

One thing about being a citizen of the blogosphere, you sure find out when you are wrong pretty quickly! This challenges me to try and get things right the first time. It also makes me go the extra mile and do all of my homework. It doesn’t always work but I am getting better.

4. I Think I Can Help

As I mentioned in Reason #1, my friend thought that I had some unique solutions that others would find useful. Well, I think he may be right. While I try to post about several different topics in the tech field, I also like to come up with some unique solutions that others may not have heard of or thought of. And it appears that at least some of my ideas are worth some attention. I have been on the front page of Digg, Reddit, Fark, Lifehacker and del.icio.us so I must be helping someone out there.

5. I Love Blogging

I have to admit that I was really surprised by how addictive blogging is! I thought that it would be a really good way to get my ideas heard but I never thought that I would be so driven to write posts and articles! It is definitely on my top ten list of things to do! In fact, I am trying a number of different things to enable me to quit my job and blog full time! Will I reach that goal? Who knows? But it sure is fun trying!

Well, I think that sums it up for me. How about the rest of the DCoT readers? I’d love to hear why you blog. Let everyone know your thoughts in the comments.

P.S. Matthew - TAG!  You’re it!

If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?
