February 20th, 2007 at 12:40 pmThat is pretty cool. I wonder what kind of computer they got that hooked up to. This reminds me of those Sunglasses monitors they had a few years ago.
I want one!

February 20th, 2007 at 4:28 pmyou said it Guy, man that is one sweet interface, I doubt it’d be good for gaming but work wise I’m sure you could get a lot done using that type of interface.
Ok so how do we make that open source?

February 20th, 2007 at 5:03 pmPretty neat. Not sure what its called, but the stuff they do with infra-red keyboard (project it on a surface and it detects hand movement) just seems more practical than this. Once technology gets up to that point, it seems like it would be a lot cheaper if this would work with a projector and a “motion sensor”, plus a lot more practical (and you wouldn’t have to worry about the screen breaking or dead areas). Just my thoughts.

February 21st, 2007 at 11:00 amamazing. RTS games would be intense on this. about the infrared, im sure once this gets up and running, there will be a way to project onto a piece of glass, or inbetween 2 pieces to make it look like a monitor, but no dead pixels.

February 22nd, 2007 at 5:24 pmLooks nice, but as far as eliminating keyboard & mouse as we know it - no way. The problem with touch screens for day-to-day use is the so-called “gorilla arm” effect, which describes the sensation you get after using a touch screen all day long; your arms end up feeling so heavy that you think your knuckles are dragging on the ground. If RSI was the problem of the 90’s, Gorilla Arm would be the problem of the future if this technology somehow managed to displace keyboards. Touch screens are great for occasional things (like making cash withdrawals or buying a train ticket), but they really are inappropriate for use as a primary interface all the time.
