Do you have a great idea for a USB drive based system? Would it fit on a 32 MB drive? Then this contest is for you!
Daily Cup of Tech is having its first contest! We are giving away four pre-configured USB drive based systems designed by you, the DCoT readers!
Simply come up with a USB drive based system, submit the idea in the comments at the official website, and you could be a winner! Entries are due no later than Friday and voting starts next Monday!
The four systems which have the most votes will get designed and built by me for delivery to the winners. Each project will be available on DCoT for all to enjoy!
Good luck!
If you found this post useful, why don't you buy me a cup of coffee to show your gratitude?

The (dutch) site describes the bundling of Apache, MySQL, PHP & PHPMyAdmin on an USB-stick. There is an english version + manual,
that says you need 33,3 Mb (so almost).
There you have your travelling design-environment. -

December 5th, 2006 at 6:09 pmHow about a drive which includes the ultra vnc single click setup with the encryption addon to allow end users to connect for product support. This could also include the help manual for the product, hashcalc or the like to calculate checksums, an upload utility (or a link to the upload page on a website) and a keystore for the encryption keys. This would dovetail nicely with the idea to utilize the drive to control licensed access.

December 5th, 2006 at 6:47 pmAgain, not my idea but a good one. How about a USB that can check and instruct the system what Windows updates it is lacking. DIrecting the system to where to get them and then telling the system to install them. That way when Grandma or my mom calls me, i can mail a USB and tell them to plug it in and do what it tells them to do.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong! -

May 5th, 2008 at 11:33 amFor example, when you do pc repair at home or at office, you get bored during its few testings as far as defrag, cleaning out junk, and changing some properties in files and folders, so what about combination of pc repair system and adding a way to do activites such as playing game, listening to music, and/or reading ebook, etc. This will cause major slow in pc and maybe a big memory in pc. Is it possible to re-create the code possibility for all of these programs run and use up the USB space as ram (memory) at the same time. Perhaps, it can be limited set of memory for USB. We already able to use the USB as memory, but not at the same time. Am I wrong?
