25 Shortcomings Of Vista
I’m finding that is getting pretty had to find objective research about Windows Vista. It’s either Microsoft marketing speak or Microsoft bashing (everyone loves to hate the big boys). But, the research team at CRN magazine have done their homework and come up with 25 Shortcomings Of Vista.
They make some really good points which will not only let you know what you should be looking at when using Vista but also before you buy that Vista box or peripheral device.
If you are interested in subscribing to CRN magazine, it is available at no cost to qualified professionals.

December 4th, 2006 at 7:51 pmInteresting article, but a large majority of these points could be true of any new OS…hardware requirements will always increase with a new OS, driver support is always sparse, volume distribution is always in question…etc. I wish they would have qualified some of the questions with links so we could make our own opinion!
The real differences are in “the pudding” as they say…Here’s an article from Microsoft (yes I know) that has a bevy of information: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/technetmag/issues/2006/11/Deployment/default.aspx

December 5th, 2006 at 11:12 pmThese points are mundane at best. It took an entire research team to come up with this list?! It sounds to me like a way to draw you in and get you to look at the ads in CRN! I was hoping for some insight and this list is completely wrong in so many respects. For one, it includes WebDav in the list of removed protocols. In fact, WebDAV is being enhanced: “WebDAV has been enhanced to support operation over SSL connections, as well as connecting on alternate ports. An update for Windows XP SP2 which supports this feature is also available” from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Features_new_to_Windows_Vista
