I understand that there is an aweful lot of piracy out there. This is precisely why we are having this whole Windows Genuaine Advantage fiasco these days. If people would simply pay for what they use, there would be no need for all this rubbish.
In that light, I would like to point out a wonderful website called Open Source Alternative. What OSAlt has done is catalaog a large number of open source applications and match them up with their commercial counterparts. Don’t want to pay for Photoshop, try GIMP. Don’t like the cost of Visio, give Dia a try.
There are hundreds of applications in their database, all properly cross-referenced.
